Who We Are
THE BR MOM NETWORK is a grassroots organization that helps feed and provide essentials to families in the Baton Rouge area. In our first year, we were able to serve over 1000 families with either groceries, hot food during hurricane power outages, necessities like diapers and wipes, school supplies, and so much more. We do so by partnering with existing agencies to better push out resources, but the need has been so great recently that we need more money to support this organization if it is going to grow to meet the need in our city.
Every month, we release a form to our group of over 6,000 families in the BR area, and those who are in need sign up for a delivery. Deliveries typically contain things like oatmeal, cereal, canned goods, rice, snacks, peanut butter, etc. Recently we have had many requests for diapers and wipes and we have been meeting those needs as well.
We also have a Birthday Club, where once a month, a team of mom volunteers throws a birthday party for a child who would otherwise be unrecognized. We give preference to wards of the state, foster children, or children whose families receive SNAP benefits.
This is a project that has proven to help families who are struggle with the basics like food and diapers. We work as a community and much of the help provided to moms is provided by other moms in the group.
If we can grow our funding enough, we have plans to create a completely free kids clothing closet, a more robust food delivery with cold milk and meat, and pay for a case manager to be present part-time to help moms in the area access existing services.
Thanks for reading. It takes a village.

I appreciate everything y’all have been doing. It’s helped me out a lot. I’m still worried about getting some stuff in the freezer but everything y’all have done has really been a blessing. (after hurricane Ida)
