Neighborhood Lead Volunteer

Do you want to directly help other moms and children who live in your community? This is a fantastic opportunity to develop strong relationships with moms who struggle with the same things as you and live in your geographic area. When we build community, we build a better future for our children.

Who Are We?

Baton Rouge Moms Network is a group of Baton Rouge area moms that connect with each other - to ask questions, share upcoming events or experiences, brag on their wins, vent about their frustrations, find resources they need, or plan playdates (or mom dates).

Our initiatives are grassroots and begin when we identify a need in our mom community. For example, we began delivering food boxes after noticing an increase in member posts asking for food items or assistance. To ease some of the pressures that food insecurity can put on families, we partner with other organizations in the Baton Rouge area to deliver free food boxes directly to families. Currently, this is our largest program.

Job Description

Neighborhood leads take ownership of their neighborhood and coordinate community-specific activities and projects on behalf of BR Mom Network. They are proactive, team players who know about their area and take the time to learn about the families they serve.

Currently, our largest need and biggest program is Food Pantry Box Delivery, so much of your work will revolve around scheduling and coordinating volunteers to deliver resources within your geographic area. We have also delivered diapers, hygiene products, and gas cards in the recent past.

Responsibilities include:

  • Identify and recruit volunteers in your specified area and what capacity they can help in

  • Coordinate with lead volunteer (Angella Fuselier) and arrange for the pickup and delivery of food boxes within your specified area. Neighborhood leads will get a list of addresses that have signed up for food box delivery and will need to take full ownership of either delivering those items personally or finding volunteers who will do so.

  • Connect with families you serve and make sure we are meeting their needs to the best of our abilities

Requirements

Leads should have a valid LA driver’s license and a registered and insured vehicle.

Time Commitment

This is a volunteer position but does require about 2-4 hours per week, sometimes a little more depending on demand, however it is very flexible and can fit into almost any schedule.
